It's 1983, and Peru is tearing itself apart. The Shining Path, a Maoist insurgency, has plunged the nation into a bloody civil war, and the streets of Lima are a warzone. Against this apocalyptic backdrop, a young American drug mule arrives to make a pickup from volatile brothers operating a cocaine lab in a sleepy surf town. When paranoia and violence finally erupt, the American is swept up along with a magnetic French woman whose revolutionary ideals run deeper than he knows. As surf pounds the reef, and gunfire echoes through the empty streets, they’re forced to flee through army checkpoints and Andean safe houses, hunted by both the drug trade and the insurgency they never should have crossed.
